NYS Troopers Extradite Texas Man to WNY on Multiple Felony Charges, Including Rape and Endangering the Welfare of a Child
He is currently being held at the Niagara County Jail pending further legal proceedings.
Authorities have extradited a Texas man to New York to face multiple felony charges following an investigation into an alleged sex crime involving a minor. Javier A. Vasquez, 22, of Weslaco, Texas, was arrested on February 8, 2025, by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) out of SP Lockport.
Vasquez faces several serious charges, including six counts of third-degree rape (E felony), four counts of third-degree criminal sexual act (E felony), two counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child (E felony), as well as charges of criminal obstruction of breathing and endangering the welfare of a child.
The investigation began on April 25, 2024, after a complaint was filed at SP Lockport alleging a possible sex crime. Investigators determined that in August 2024, Vasquez engaged in sexual relations with a female under the age of 17. The investigation revealed that the incident involved the use of drugs and coercion.
Vasquez had left New York before the complaint was made. Investigators from the BCI collaborated with the New York State Police Computer Crimes Unit, the Texas Joint Crime Information Center, and other law enforcement agencies to locate him in Texas.
Following an indictment by a Niagara County Grand Jury on multiple felony charges, Vasquez was taken into custody by the Weslaco Police Department in Texas on the New York arrest warrant. On February 5, 2025, members of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation traveled to Texas to complete the extradition. Vasquez was officially taken into custody on February 7 and returned to SP Lockport for processing on February 8.
He is currently being held at the Niagara County Jail pending further legal proceedings.
The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities encourage anyone with additional information regarding the case to contact the New York State Police.
