North Rose-Wolcott Schools Placed in Lockout Due to Police Investigation
Update:
The North Rose-Wolcott Central School District canceled classes on Tuesday morning after receiving a phone threat that authorities later determined to be not credible, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
The district’s elementary school initiated a lockout at approximately 8:15 a.m., prompting buses to be rerouted. Students were then either sent home or transported to alternative locations. As a precaution, both the middle and high schools also entered lockout procedures.
Wayne County deputies are continuing their investigation but believe the call originated from outside the district. Officials confirmed that at no point were students or staff in any actual danger.
School officials and law enforcement are working together to ensure the safety of students while addressing the source of the threat.

North Rose-Wolcott Central School District has placed all three of its school buildings under lockout status this morning due to an ongoing police investigation. According to an official message sent to parents and guardians, buses are being rerouted to a secure location, and students will remain on buses until further notice.
Parents who typically drop off their children at the elementary school have been advised not to bring their students to school at this time.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the nature of the investigation, but school officials have assured families that student safety remains the top priority. A lockout means that no one is allowed to enter or leave the buildings while classes continue inside, unlike a lockdown, where students and staff are required to take shelter in designated areas.
Local law enforcement is currently on scene, and updates are expected as more information becomes available.
