Newark Woman Arrested After Allegedly Using Altered Emergency Food Voucher
Officials report that the 26-year-old woman used the altered voucher to obtain $8.97 worth of goods from the Save A Lot store in Ontario.
A Newark woman has been arrested following an investigation into the fraudulent use of emergency food vouchers, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities identified Michaela Jacobs, 26, who was taken into custody on charges of petit larceny and first-degree possession of a forged instrument.
The investigation, conducted in collaboration with the Wayne County Department of Social Services, alleges that Jacobs altered an emergency food voucher to use it a second time, violating program regulations.
Officials report that Jacobs used the altered voucher to obtain $8.97 worth of goods from the Save A Lot store in Ontario.
Following her arrest, she was transported to the Wayne County Jail to be held preceding an arraignment. She has since been released.
