A Newark resident was arrested following an alleged refusal to comply with a court-ordered eviction, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to 1114 South Main Street in Newark at approximately 10:10 a.m. on March 6, where they encountered Scott D. Snyder, 44, of Newark. Authorities stated that Snyder refused to comply with the eviction order issued by the Village of Newark Court on February 12, 2025.
According to the sheriff’s office, Snyder was taken into custody on charges of criminal contempt in the second degree, criminal trespass in the third degree, obstruction of governmental administration in the second degree, and resisting arrest. Deputies allege that Snyder physically and verbally resisted as they attempted to place him under arrest.
Snyder was issued appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in Village of Newark Court on March 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. to respond to the charges.
