The Newark Fire Department will be conducting an ice rescue training session today at Widewaters Canal Park, located at 5271 Route 31.
The training is scheduled to take place from 8:30 a.m. to approximately 10 a.m. This exercise is part of ongoing preparedness efforts to ensure firefighters are equipped with the skills necessary to perform ice rescues during winter emergencies.
Residents and park visitors are advised that this is a planned training exercise and there is no cause for concern. The session will simulate real-life rescue scenarios to help first responders practice safe and effective techniques for rescuing individuals from icy waters.
