New York State Police to Increase DWI Enforcement During Super Bowl Weekend
Officials are urging residents to plan ahead if they intend to consume alcohol or cannabis.
Law enforcement agencies across New York State will be stepping up efforts to combat impaired driving as part of a statewide initiative from February 3 to February 9, 2025. The crackdown aims to reduce the risks associated with driving under the influence, particularly during Super Bowl weekend.
The campaign will include sobriety checkpoints, increased DWI enforcement patrols, and operations targeting underage drinking and illegal alcohol and cannabis sales. These measures are part of an ongoing effort by the New York State Police and STOP-DWI New York to enhance road safety.
Officials are urging residents to plan ahead if they intend to consume alcohol or cannabis. Recommended precautions include designating a sober driver, utilizing rideshare or taxi services, and downloading the “Have a Plan” mobile app, which provides tools for making safe transportation decisions.
Authorities emphasize that even minimal alcohol or cannabis consumption can impair driving ability, increasing the risk of accidents.
