New Social Media Platform Neighbahood.com Aims to Foster Kindness and Genuine Connections
A new social media platform, Neighbahood.com, is looking to redefine the online experience by prioritizing kindness, connection, and user privacy. In an era where social media is often criticized for fostering divisiveness and prioritizing engagement-driven algorithms, Neighbahood.com seeks to offer an alternative focused on meaningful interactions.
The platform allows users to create groups, add friends, chat in real time, share photos, and even host video calls using Google Meet integration. Unlike many mainstream platforms, Neighbahood.com does not employ algorithms that determine which posts are seen or prioritize paid content over organic interactions.
"We want to bring back the essence of social networking—where people can genuinely connect, free from negativity and manipulation," said Erica, the platform’s founder. "Neighbahood is a play on the word ‘neighborhood’ because we want everyone to feel like they’re part of a community."
One of the platform’s key selling points is its commitment to user privacy. Neighbahood.com states that it does not track online activity or sell user data. Additionally, users have the option to use handles instead of their real names.
The platform also enforces a strict code of conduct, prohibiting online harassment and divisive content. Discussions on current events are restricted to private groups, ensuring that the main feed remains focused on positive interactions. Users who violate the platform’s policies may face permanent bans.
“I wanted to restore some of the civility that has been lost in online spaces,” Erica added. “We don’t allow negativity, rudeness, or harassment. There’s no need for it. This is a space where everyone should feel welcome.”
Though still in its early stages, Neighbahood.com is expanding rapidly. Users can currently share posts, message friends, and participate in themed groups such as Movie and Book Talk. A video-sharing feature is set to launch in the spring, with additional enhancements in development.
"For now, we're the little engine that could," Erica said. "But we have big plans ahead."
As the platform continues to grow, its founder envisions it becoming a hub for a new generation of influencers—one where authenticity and community take precedence over algorithms and monetization strategies.
Neighbahood.com is now open to the public, offering a fresh alternative for users looking to engage in a more positive and privacy-focused social media experience.
