Mentz Man Arrested on Stalking and Harassment Charges

The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Bryan K. Whyte, 56, of Mentz, in connection with a domestic incident originally reported in 2021. Deputies took Whyte into custody on February 12, 2025, after locating him at 8891 Jackson Street in the Village of Weedsport.

According to deputies, the investigation began on September 27, 2021, after a female victim reported ongoing harassment over several weeks. Authorities allege that Whyte had been following the victim, taking photographs of her, and repeatedly sending harassing messages and calls.

At the time of the initial investigation, Whyte reportedly avoided law enforcement's attempts to locate him, leading to a warrant being issued for his arrest.

Deputies were able to apprehend Whyte on February 12 and charged him with stalking in the third degree and aggravated harassment in the second degree, both misdemeanors. He was processed at the Cayuga County Public Safety Building and transferred to the Cayuga County Jail for arraignment in CAP Court.
