Update: Two Arrested in Connection with Port Byron Bank Robbery
Two Auburn men, Weldon R. Malone Jr. and Brandon C. Millhoff, have been arrested and charged with robbery among other charges.

On January 7, 2025, video surveillance around the Port Byron area led authorities to execute a search warrant at a residence on Seneca Street. During the search, Weldon R. Malone Jr., 58, was taken into custody. He has been charged with Robbery in the Third Degree (D Felony) and Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree (E Felony). Malone was transported to the Cayuga County Jail for CAP arraignment.
Further investigation revealed a second suspect, Brandon C. Millhoff, 48, also of Auburn. On January 10, 2025, Millhoff was located at Dilaj's Motor Inn on North Street Road in Auburn. He attempted to evade arrest by hiding in a common area but was apprehended after resisting. Millhoff faces charges of Robbery in the Third Degree, Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, and Resisting Arrest (A Misdemeanor). He was also taken to the Cayuga County Jail for arraignment.
The New York State Police were assisted in this investigation by the Cayuga County Sheriff's Office, Auburn Police Department, Port Byron Police Department, and New York State Parole. Authorities have expressed gratitude for the public’s assistance in resolving this case.

The New York State Police are actively investigating a robbery that took place on January 6, 2025, at Savannah Bank, located at 126 Main Street in the village of Port Byron. The incident, which unfolded in broad daylight, has left local residents on edge.
At approximately 3:25 p.m., a male suspect entered the bank, approached a teller, and demanded money. After collecting the cash, the suspect swiftly exited the premises and was last seen walking southbound on Main Street. Authorities have released a brief description of the suspect, who was reportedly wearing a black cloth mask, a grey jacket, and grey pants at the time of the robbery. Photos released by the New York State Police seem to show the suspect wearing purple medical-style gloves.
The New York State Police have launched an intensive investigation into the case and are calling on the public for help in identifying the suspect or providing any details related to the incident.
