Man Shot and Killed at Upstate NY Tops Markets
Update: The suspect has been apprehended and taken into custody, according to New York State Police. This is a developing story.
The New York State Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Tuesday morning in the parking lot of the Tops supermarket at 3385 Main Street in Mexico, New York.
According to authorities, Troopers responded to a 911 call around 2:54 a.m. reporting an altercation at the location. Preliminary findings indicate that a man driving a dark-colored Chevrolet pickup truck arrived at the scene, exited his vehicle, and became involved in a physical confrontation with another individual. During the altercation, the suspect allegedly shot the victim before fleeing westbound on Main Street in the truck.
The suspect is described as a white male wearing a green camouflage shirt with a hunting tag on the back.
The victim has been tentatively identified as 32-year-old Jacob Walsh from Mexico, N.Y. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
