Lyons Varsity Basketball Player Jamire “JJ” Johnson Scores 1,000th Career Point

The gym at Lyons High School erupted with cheers as junior basketball standout Jamire “JJ” Johnson reached a monumental milestone in his athletic career—scoring his 1,000th career point during a recent varsity game.
The junior’s achievement places him among an elite group of athletes in the Wayne-Finger Lakes region this season. Johnson is the sixth player to reach the 1,000-point mark, joining Bloomfield’s Calla McCombs (junior), Marcus Whitman’s Brody Royston (senior), Palmyra-Macedon’s Taryn Goodness (senior), Newark’s TaKyla Vaughn (senior), and Clyde-Savannah’s Taylor Carnevale (junior).
Lyons Varsity Basketball Coach Dean Schott highlighted the significance of Johnson’s accomplishment.
“JJ reaching his 1,000th career point is a big accomplishment. It’s very special to achieve such a milestone in your junior year of high school,” Schott said. “He’s an impressive young man, and I know even greater things are in store for him.”
Johnson’s milestone adds to the rich tradition of Lyons basketball, marking him as one of the standout players in the program’s history. As the season continues, fans and teammates alike are eager to see what more he will accomplish on the court.
