Locke Man Charged with Second-Degree Rape Following Investigation
A Locke man has been charged with rape following an investigation into allegations of sexual abuse involving a juvenile.
The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Auburn announced the arrest of Christopher T. Quaile, 43, on a charge of second-degree rape, a class D felony. Authorities say the charge stems from incidents that allegedly occurred during the summer of 2023 at Quaile’s residence in Locke, involving a victim under the age of 15.
The investigation began on January 14, 2025, when Cortland County Child Protective Services (CPS) contacted state police regarding disclosures made by the alleged victim. Investigators determined that the suspect had engaged in criminal sexual conduct on multiple occasions in July 2023, according to police.
On March 5, authorities obtained an Order to Produce Quaile from the Cayuga County Jail, where he was already in custody on separate charges. He was formally charged on March 10 at the State Police barracks in Auburn. After processing, he was returned to the Cayuga County Jail to await arraignment.
Prosecutors have recommended that bail not be set, citing Quaile’s prior felony convictions and pending sentencing in an unrelated felony case.
The case remains under investigation.
