The New York State Police are investigating an alleged grand larceny case involving the misappropriation of funds from both a local Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and a Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA) union chapter.
According to authorities, the investigation began after the State Police in Painted Post received a larceny complaint from the Calvin U. Smith PTA. Their findings indicate that Kari A. Warner, 35, of Painted Post, who served as treasurer for both the PTA and Corning-Painted Post CSEA Union 8710, allegedly stole more than $45,000 between August 2024 and January 2025.
Warner was arrested on February 26, 2025, and charged with third-degree grand larceny, a Class D felony. She was processed at the Steuben County Jail and released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to appear in the Town of Erwin Court at a later date.
The investigation remains ongoing.
