Inmate Passed Razor Blades, Cannabis, Synthetic Marijuana in Stool After Monroe County Jail Body Scan
Deputies reported that Williams later discharged a balloon containing undisclosed items and was then transported to a local hospital, where he passed two additional balloons.
Monroe County Sheriff's deputies intercepted contraband from a man being processed at the Monroe County Jail, preventing the items from entering the facility, authorities said.
Kevin Williams, 30, of Rochester, had been sentenced in Monroe County Court on March 4, 2025, to serve time in the New York State Department of Corrections. He was taken into custody at the jail around noon to await transfer to a state facility.
During a routine screening, a body scan raised concerns about the possible concealment of contraband. Deputies reported that Williams later discharged a balloon containing undisclosed items and was then transported to a local hospital, where he passed two additional balloons. According to the sheriff’s office, the balloons contained two razor blades, synthetic cannabinoids, and marijuana.
Williams was subsequently charged with promoting prison contraband in the first degree, a class D felony, and promoting prison contraband in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office credited the vigilance and experience of its deputies in intercepting the contraband, emphasizing the importance of preventing such materials from entering correctional facilities.
