A Hopewell woman was taken into custody early Thursday morning following a traffic stop on State Route 332 in Farmington. According to the Ontario County Sheriff's Office, deputies arrested 44-year-old Robin Lynne Vertigans after an investigation revealed signs of drug impairment, unlicensed driving, and the possession of both controlled substances and a weapon.
The incident occurred around 3:00 a.m., when deputies stopped Vertigans' vehicle for alleged traffic violations, including the absence of a license plate lamp. During the stop, deputies reported observing indicators of drug impairment. Further investigation led to the discovery of multiple controlled substances and a weapon inside the vehicle.
Vertigans, a resident of County Road 50 in the Town of Hopewell, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, four counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, driving while ability impaired by drugs, aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree, and no plate lamp.
