A Cortland man has been arrested and charged in connection with a stolen vehicle case dating back to October 2023.
Daniel J. Gardner, 48, who is listed as homeless in Cortland, was arrested on February 7, 2025, following new developments in the investigation conducted by the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office. Gardner faces multiple charges, including two felony counts of grand larceny and a misdemeanor charge of criminal possession of a weapon.
The investigation began on October 23, 2023, when officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in the Town of Solon. The vehicle was later found unoccupied in the City of Cortland that same day. Recent information led investigators to Gardner, resulting in his arrest.
Gardner was arraigned on February 7, 2025, through the Centralized Arraignment Process and is currently being held at the Cortland County Jail without bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for February 20, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in Solon Town Court.
