In the wake of the devastating news surrounding Sam Nordquist, a GoFundMe campaign is circulating that was originally organized by Kayla Nordquist, Sam’s sister, who explained the circumstances leading up to his disappearance. According to Kayla, Sam left for New York on September 28, 2024, to meet someone he had been in a relationship with online. He was expected to return home to Minnesota on October 12, 2024, with a round-trip plane ticket. However, after January 1, 2025, all communication with Sam ceased.
In her original plea for help, Kayla wrote:
“Me and my mom need to get to New York so we can find Sam and bring him home. We are very low on funds and can't afford to go on our own. If anyone is willing and able to help, please do so. Any amount would be greatly appreciated and very helpful.”
Now, with the heartbreaking news of Sam’s death, the campaign’s focus has shifted toward helping the family with travel and funeral-related expenses, as well as giving them the time and resources to grieve.
The Nordquist family’s strength and resilience have been met with overwhelming kindness from the Canandaigua and wider community. Those wishing to support the family can donate through the GoFundMe campaign at Urgent Help to Locate Sam Nordquist.
