Glenville Man Arrested on Federal Child Exploitation Charge
A Glenville man has been arrested on a federal charge of distributing child sexual abuse material, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of New York.
Gregory Magin, 44, was taken into custody on Friday following a criminal complaint that alleges he shared explicit videos online between July 18 and July 20, 2024. Prosecutors say Magin distributed the material through an online chat platform in exchange for access to certain groups.
Magin appeared in federal court in Albany before U.S. Magistrate Judge Daniel J. Stewart and was ordered detained pending a detention hearing scheduled for Tuesday, March 18.
The case is being investigated by the FBI’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force with assistance from the New York State Police. Assistant U.S. Attorney Allen J. Vickey is prosecuting the case as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice in 2006 to combat child exploitation.
Authorities emphasize that the charges are allegations and that Magin is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
