A former Wyoming County corrections deputy has been sentenced to federal prison for distributing child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of New York.
James D. Sutton, 40, of Depew, was sentenced Friday by U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo to 100 months in prison, followed by 30 years of supervised release. Sutton had previously pleaded guilty to distributing child pornography.
According to federal prosecutors, Sutton used his cellphone in October 2021 to upload 22 video files containing child sexual abuse material to the social media platform Kik. The videos included depictions of prepubescent minors under the age of 12, as well as content involving violence.
The investigation was conducted by the New York State Police, the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
