Federal Crackdown on Undocumented Immigrants Reaches New York, Over 460 Arrests Reported Nationwide
In addition to the arrests, ICE officials report they issued over 420 detainers—requests for local authorities to notify federal agents before releasing undocumented individuals in custody.
In a large-scale enforcement effort, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reports the arrests of more than 460 individuals across multiple states in its first major operation under the President Trump administration.
ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) reports they focused their efforts on individuals either charged or convicted of crimes such as sexual assault, robbery, aggravated assault, and drug offenses. Among those arrested were nationals from several countries, including Afghanistan, Angola, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Senegal, and Venezuela.
