A Farmington man was arrested on Thursday, March 20, following an investigation by the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Division.
Authorities took 35-year-old Eric A. Gonzalez into custody, charging him with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree with intent to sell, a class B felony.
According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began after receiving tips from the public about possible drug activity at the Farmington Court Apartments. Over several months, investigators conducted surveillance and gathered evidence, identifying Gonzalez as a suspect. Law enforcement officials stated that they observed multiple hand-to-hand drug transactions involving Gonzalez and obtained search warrants for his person, vehicle, and residence.
During the arrest, deputies allegedly found a significant quantity of crack cocaine concealed in Gonzalez’s pants, along with approximately $2,700 in cash and a digital scale. Additional narcotics were reportedly recovered from his vehicle, and authorities said multiple items of evidence were seized from his apartment.
Gonzalez was transported to the Ontario County Jail for pre-arraignment detention. He was later released on his own recognizance and is expected to appear in court at a later date.
Residents of the apartment complex reportedly expressed appreciation for law enforcement’s response to the investigation. The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office reiterated its commitment to investigating drug-related offenses and encouraged the public to report suspicious activity through its anonymous tip line.
