A Farmington man was arrested on Monday after authorities responded to a reported theft at Eastview Mall.
According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and mall security were called to the Target store on February 19 for an in-progress larceny. Upon investigation, 41-year-old Frank Joseph Ayers was taken into custody and charged with falsifying business records in the first degree and petit larceny.
Officials allege that Ayers manipulated barcodes on merchandise to pay less than the actual retail price. After passing all points of sale without rendering full payment, he was stopped by authorities.
Ayers was issued an appearance ticket and banned from Eastview Mall property. He is scheduled to appear in Victor Town Court at a later date to respond to the charges.
