Event in Macedon to Explore Harriet Tubman’s Legacy and Local Underground Railroad History
A community event this Saturday, March 15, will highlight the historical significance of Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad in Wayne County. The event, hosted by Macedon NY History, will take place at the Macedon Town Hall, located at 32 Main Street.
The program will begin at 10 a.m. with a special screening of the film Harriet, which depicts the life of abolitionist Harriet Tubman. Following the screening, former Wayne County Historian Marjory Perez and Macedon Town Historian Linda Braun will give a presentation from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., discussing the Underground Railroad’s impact on the region.
The event is free and open to the public. Perez will also be signing and selling copies of her books, including Freedom a Shared Sacrifice and Final Stop, Freedom! The Underground Railroad Experience in Wayne County, NY.
