Elmira Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant in Chemung County

The warrant, dated January 1, 2025, stemmed from charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree.

A 33-year-old Elmira man was taken into custody on Tuesday after authorities executed an outstanding bench warrant related to drug possession charges.

According to the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office, Joseph M. Torrence was arrested on February 27, 2025, following a warrant issued by the Southport Town Court. The warrant, dated January 1, 2025, stemmed from charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree.

Torrence was transported to the Chemung County Jail, where he is being held pending arraignment in Southport Town Court.

Authorities have not released additional details regarding the case.
