A local man was taken into custody over the weekend on an outstanding bench warrant related to drug possession charges, according to the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office.
Robert L. Resavage, 43, of Elmira, was arrested on March 8, 2025, after failing to appear in court for a previous charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a Class A misdemeanor. The initial charge was issued by Elmira City Court on February 21, 2025.
Authorities reported that Resavage was arraigned in Elmira City Court following his arrest and was subsequently remanded to the Chemung County Jail without bail.
The sheriff’s office has not provided additional details regarding the original incident leading to the charge. Seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance in New York typically refers to the possession of small amounts of illegal drugs, including narcotics or prescription medications without a valid prescription.
Resavage is expected to appear in court at a later date to address the charges.
