Elmira Man Arrested for Alleged Violation of Sex Offender Registration Requirements
The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 22-year-old Jordan M. Stehm of Elmira for allegedly failing to report a change of address, a violation of the Sex Offender Registration Act and a class E felony.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, authorities received a tip that Stehm had moved from his registered address. Deputies responded to a location on Lake Road in the Town of Elmira to verify his residence. Upon investigation, they determined that he had not been living at the registered address for an extended period and had not reported any changes to the Sheriff’s Office or the New York State Sex Offender Registry, as required by state law.
Following further investigation, authorities located Stehm at an unregistered address in the City of Elmira. He was taken into custody and charged with failure to report an address change. Stehm was issued an appearance ticket for the Town of Elmira Court and is scheduled to appear at a later date.
