Elbridge Man Arrested After Overnight Standoff in Domestic Dispute
A 64-year-old Elbridge man was arrested early Tuesday morning following a domestic dispute that led to an hours-long standoff with State Police.
Troopers were called to a residence on Whiting Road in the town of Elbridge around 10:20 p.m. on March 25 after receiving reports of a domestic incident. According to investigators, Harvey J. Brown allegedly threatened another person in the home with a shotgun during an argument reportedly centered on a utility bill.
When troopers arrived at the scene, Brown refused to come out of the house and barricaded himself inside. Police attempted to make contact but received no response.
Brown eventually surrendered without incident shortly after 3 a.m. and was taken into custody. He was charged with menacing in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, both class A misdemeanors.
Following his arrest, State Police obtained a search warrant and recovered two shotguns and a rifle from the residence. Brown was processed at the State Police barracks in Elbridge and transported to the Onondaga County Central Arraignment Part Court for arraignment.
No injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
