Three individuals were arrested at Eastview Mall on February 14 in connection with a stolen wallet investigation that originated at a nearby Walmart, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO).
Deputies arrested Karina Echegaray-Polo, 28, Josue A. Fernandez, 27, and Jose Alberto Ortiz-Pariona, 33, all from Paterson, New Jersey. They are facing charges of grand larceny in the third and fourth degrees, as well as tampering with physical evidence.
Authorities began investigating after responding to a stolen wallet complaint at the Victor Walmart. Deputies later identified a suspect vehicle, which was found in the parking lot of Eastview Mall. Law enforcement officers detained the three individuals inside the vehicle and linked them to the alleged theft.
According to the sheriff’s office, the suspects allegedly used stolen credit cards from the wallet at Lululemon, Apple, and Best Buy, making purchases exceeding $2,000. Further investigation revealed that the suspects were also being sought by the Silver Springs Township Police Department in Pennsylvania for a similar incident on February 13. Arrest warrants were subsequently issued for all three individuals on fugitive from justice charges.
On February 15, another wallet was reported stolen from a customer at TJ Maxx in Victor, and the credit cards from that theft were reportedly used at Apple and Best Buy, totaling approximately $5,952.28. Deputies later recovered some of the stolen credit cards, which had allegedly been hidden inside a toilet in an attempt to destroy evidence, leading to an additional charge of tampering with physical evidence for Echegaray-Polo.
