Deputies Find 229 Bags of Fentanyl, Cocaine, Packaging Materials, Cash After Pursuit in Cortland
A narcotics investigation led by the Cortland County Drug Task Force resulted in the arrest of a local man on multiple drug-related charges, authorities said.
Jody R. Minor, 43, who is listed as homeless in the City of Cortland, was taken into custody on March 3 after officers located him in connection with an active bench warrant from the Cortland County Sheriff's Office and an arrest warrant issued by the New York State Police.
According to law enforcement officials, Minor attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended after a brief pursuit. Officers reported that he was found in possession of 229 bags of fentanyl, four bags of cocaine, packaging materials, and an undisclosed amount of cash. The seized drugs are estimated to have a street value of approximately $1,200.
Minor was charged with two felony counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, as well as misdemeanor charges of second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.
He was processed at the Cortland County Sheriff's Office and arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Process on the evening of March 3. The court ordered Minor to be held at the Cortland County Jail without bail.
His next court appearance is scheduled for March 12 at 10 a.m. in Cortland City Court.
