Cortland County Sheriff's Office Opens Applications for Deputy Sheriff Exam

The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office has announced that it is accepting applications for the position of County Police Officer (Deputy Sheriff), with an exam scheduled for May 3, 2025. Interested candidates must register by April 3, 2025, at 4:30 PM.

The Sheriff's Office is seeking new recruits to join its team, highlighting competitive pay ranging from $62,234 to $82,655, shift differentials, and a 20-year retirement plan. Additional benefits include a take-home patrol car program, medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as paid vacation and personal days.

Deputy sheriffs have the opportunity to work in various specialized units, including K9, criminal investigations, marine and snowmobile patrol, tactical response, and youth officer programs.
