Cortland Conty Man Charged with Illegal Firearm Possession

A Freetown resident has been charged with a misdemeanor weapons offense following an investigation by the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.

According to authorities, Daniel S. Kelley, 65, of Maricle Road, was found in possession of a firearm he was prohibited from owning. The investigation began on February 16, 2025, after officers received information regarding Kelley’s alleged possession of the weapon.

Following the investigation, Kelley was arrested on February 25, 2025, at 9:46 a.m. and charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor. He was processed and released with an appearance ticket.

Kelley is scheduled to appear in the Town of Freetown Court on March 19, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. for arraignment.
