A Corning woman has been arrested on assault and criminal mischief charges following an investigation into an incident that occurred in February, according to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies arrested Ava M. Sitzer, 19, of West Sixth Street, Corning, on March 19, following allegations that she injured a police officer and caused property damage while receiving emergency medical treatment in the Town of Bath.
Authorities say that after the February incident, Sitzer was transported for emergency care, and a warrant for her arrest was later issued. The injured officer was treated and released.
Sitzer has been charged with assault in the second degree, a class D felony, and criminal mischief in the fourth degree. She was arraigned in Centralized Arraignment Court and released on $1,000 bail.
The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office thanked the Bath Village Police Department for its assistance in the case.
