Community Rallies to Help GlowUp Girl Stay Warm with a New Furnace
Matthew Macauley of Macauley Mechanical Services in Macedon stepped up, installing a new furnace late into the night without upfront payment—simply because he believed in the organization’s mission.
A heartwarming act of generosity has inspired the Wayne County community to come together in support of GlowUp Girl, a local organization dedicated to empowering young girls. The nonprofit recently faced an urgent crisis when their furnace failed, leaving them without heat in the middle of winter.
With the safety and comfort of the girls in mind, Matthew Macauley of Macauley Mechanical Services in Macedon stepped up, installing a new furnace late into the night without upfront payment—simply because he believed in the organization’s mission.
Now, the community is just $265 away from fully reimbursing Matthew for his out-of-pocket expenses, thanks to 24 donors who have already contributed $1,735 of the $2,000 goal.
The emergency began when GlowUp Girl’s old furnace was deemed unrepairable due to its age and rusted condition. With frigid temperatures threatening to disrupt programming, an anonymous donor stepped forward, followed by Matthew, who quickly installed a replacement to ensure the girls would have a warm place to gather.
In an update, GlowUp Girl praised Matthew’s dedication, saying:
“Matthew’s only concern was that our girls have heat when they come in tomorrow. He is a hero.”
Now, the organization is calling on the community to help close the final fundraising gap.
