Chemung County Man Arrested as Fugitive from Justice on Georgia Warrant
It is reported that the man was wanted by the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia on a charge of possession of methamphetamine. He is being held in jail, awaiting extradition to Georgia.
A Southport, Chemung County man was taken into custody last week after authorities determined he had an active warrant from Georgia, according to the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office.
Jaquan N. Boykin, 23, was arrested on February 15, 2025, following a traffic stop conducted by the Chemung County Sheriff’s Road Patrol for alleged vehicle and traffic violations. During the stop, deputies discovered that Boykin was wanted by the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia on a charge of possession of methamphetamine, in violation of Georgia law.
Upon confirming the warrant, the Chemung County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division coordinated with Gwinnett County officials, who requested that Boykin be held for extradition. Boykin was taken into custody and processed as a fugitive from justice.
Following his arrest, Boykin was arraigned in the Town of Ashland Court and remanded to the Chemung County Jail, where he is awaiting extradition to Georgia.
Authorities have not released further details regarding the original case in Georgia or Boykin’s potential legal proceedings in New York.
