The community is gearing up to honor the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, January 20, 2025. This annual celebration, hosted by Wayne Action for Racial Equality (WARE) in cooperation with Redeem Bethel C.O.G.I.C., will take place at the Community Fellowship Center, 4496 NY-104, Williamson, NY 14589.
The day will be filled with meaningful activities, starting with interactive informational displays and videos. Starting at 11:30 a.m., these exhibits will offer visitors insights into Dr. King’s vision and his enduring impact on the fight for racial equality and social justice at the Redeem Bethel C.O.G.I.C. at 11:30 a.m.
A highlight of the day is the MLK Commemorative March. Participants will gather near Redeem Bethel C.O.G.I.C. at the Main Street Parking lot near the laundromat and Candy Kitchen on Jan. 20 at 11:45 a.m. and begin marching. The march serves as a symbolic tribute to Dr. King’s peaceful protests and his unwavering commitment to justice.
Following the march, the main program at 12:45 p.m. will commence featuring guest speakers, music, and reflections, the program promises to inspire attendees to continue pursuing the ideals that Dr. King held dear until 3:15 p.m.
To conclude the day’s events, a free community dinner will be served immediately after the main program at the annex of Redeem Bethel C.O.G.I.C. This meal, generously sponsored by Reliant Credit Union, Sodus Pride Lions, and Paton’s Marketplace, embodies the spirit of togetherness and support that Dr. King advocated.
