A Canandaigua man was arrested early Thursday morning on charges of driving while intoxicated and operating a vehicle without a valid license, according to the Ontario County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies say they stopped 22-year-old Taylor W. Smith on County Road 28 around 2:01 a.m. on March 21. During the traffic stop, authorities determined Smith was operating the vehicle while intoxicated and that his driving privileges had been revoked. Further investigation revealed he had a prior conviction for driving while intoxicated within the past 10 years.
Smith was taken into custody and transported to the Ontario County Jail, where he is being held pending arraignment. He faces multiple charges, including felony driving while intoxicated, driving while ability impaired, first- and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, and other traffic violations, such as operating a vehicle without a valid license and failing to properly signal a turn.
Smith is scheduled to appear in Canandaigua Town Court at a later date to respond to the charges.
