A Canandaigua man was arrested early Saturday morning after a traffic stop in the town of Manchester led to multiple charges, including felony Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), according to the Ontario County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies say they stopped 38-year-old Tyshawn D. Williams on State Route 21 at approximately 12:33 a.m. During the stop, officers determined that Williams was intoxicated and recorded a blood alcohol content of .08% or higher, the legal threshold for driving while intoxicated in New York.
Authorities report that Williams was also driving with a suspended license and had a total of 16 prior suspensions or revocations. He was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation in the first degree, speeding, and operating a vehicle with no headlights, taillights, or proper inspection.
Due to prior DWI convictions within the past 10 years, the charge against Williams was elevated to a Class D felony. He was taken into custody and transported to the Ontario County Jail, where he is being held pending a centralized arraignment.
