Hip-hop artist Busta Rhymes is set to perform at The Great New York State Fair this summer. The rapper, known for his fast-paced lyrical delivery and hit songs spanning nearly three decades, will take the stage at Suburban Park on Sunday, August 24, at 8 p.m.
Busta Rhymes rose to prominence in the mid-1990s with his debut album The Coming, which featured the platinum-certified single “Woo-Hah!! Got You All in Check.” He went on to release multiple platinum and gold-certified albums, including When Disaster Strikes, Extinction Level Event: The Final World Front, and The Big Bang, the latter of which topped the Billboard 200 chart in 2006. Over the years, he has collaborated with a wide range of artists, including Mariah Carey, Missy Elliott, Janet Jackson, Eminem, and Lil Wayne.
Fair Director Julie LaFave noted Rhymes’ impact on music and culture, describing him as a New York native with a legacy in hip-hop.
“His performances are legendary, and I can’t wait to see what he has in store for fairgoers on August 24,” LaFave said.
The performance is part of the fair’s Chevrolet Music Series, which includes 41 national recording acts. Concerts are included with fair admission, which costs $8 for adults, while children under 12 and seniors 65 and older can enter for free. The fair will run from Wednesday, August 20, through Labor Day, Monday, September 1.
Other scheduled performances include Cheap Trick, Kidz Bop, Herman’s Hermits starring Peter Noone, and Sister Hazel. Concert schedules and updates are available on the fair’s website.
