The body of a 66-year-old man who was reported missing on February 2, 2025, has been recovered from Cross Lake, according to the New York State Police.
The man was last seen at his cottage on Cross Lake before his wife reported him missing after he failed to return home. Search efforts led authorities to a potential site on the lake where it appeared a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) may have broken through the ice.
The New York State Police Underwater Recovery Team (URT) was deployed to investigate the area. After an extensive search, the man’s body was located and recovered from the lake. Efforts to retrieve the UTV are ongoing, though current conditions have hindered recovery efforts.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office initially assisted in the investigation before the case was transferred to the New York State Police, as it was determined the man was last seen in Cayuga County.
Authorities are urging anyone with additional information related to the case to contact the New York State Police at 585-398-4100.
The investigation remains ongoing.
