Biden-Era Federal Website Goes Offline Amid Administration Transition
By Tuesday morning, visitors attempting to access the site were met with an error message stating that the "server IP address could not be found."
A government website dedicated to reproductive rights is no longer accessible as the transition to the administration of Donald Trump moves forward.
The site, “reproductiverights.gov”, was launched in 2022 by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as part of an initiative to provide public information on reproductive health care and legal rights. However, by Tuesday morning, visitors attempting to access the site were met with an error message stating that the "server IP address could not be found."
Before going offline, the website served as a resource for individuals seeking information on reproductive health, abortion access, and legal protections. A statement from a Jan. 15 archived version of the site emphasized the importance of reproductive health care, including access to contraception and abortion services.
"Reproductive health care, including access to birth control and safe and legal abortion care, is an essential part of your health and well-being," the archived message read. "While Roe v. Wade was overturned, abortion remains legal in many states, and other reproductive health care services remain protected by law."
The website also provided guidance on health insurance coverage, details on where to obtain reproductive health care, and information on services such as cancer screenings, prenatal care, and HIV testing—many of which are covered by most insurance plans.
