A Belfast woman has been charged with petit larceny and welfare fraud following an investigation by the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office.
According to Sheriff Scott Cicirello, deputies arrested 56-year-old Tammy Dunn-Humphrey on February 24, 2025. Authorities allege that Dunn-Humphrey used a New York State benefit card that did not belong to her to make purchases at multiple locations, totaling $242.97.
Dunn-Humphrey was charged with petit larceny and fifth-degree welfare fraud, both classified as misdemeanors. She was issued an appearance ticket and released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to appear in the Village of Belmont Court at a later date.
The Allegany County Department of Social Services Fraud Unit assisted in the investigation.
