Bed Bug Presence Prompts Swift Action at Williamson Middle School
Middle school classes transitioned to a remote learning format for Monday and Tuesday. Regular in-person learning is expected to resume on Wednesday.
Over the weekend, Williamson Middle School in Wayne County underwent a professional pest control intervention following the discovery of a small, contained presence of bed bugs in a specific area of the building.
As a precautionary measure, the school district initiated a thorough pesticide treatment of the entire middle school. This proactive approach aimed to ensure the complete eradication of the pests and safeguard the health and comfort of students and staff.
To accommodate the treatment, middle school classes transitioned to a remote learning format for Monday and Tuesday. Regular in-person learning is expected to resume on Wednesday.
The district is also taking additional steps to prevent potential infestations. Exterminators will inspect both the elementary and high school buildings after school hours on Monday. Ongoing monitoring and further treatments will be conducted if necessary to maintain a pest-free environment across all facilities.
