Authorities Seize Over $400K in Drugs, Arrest Canandaigua Man at Exit 43 Traffic Stop
Thousands of tabs of LSD, several pounds of cocaine, ketamine, marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, MDMA and more confiscated by authorities.
A Canandaigua man has been arrested on felony drug charges following a multi-agency investigation into drug distribution in the area, according to law enforcement officials.
Jeffrey R. Johnson, 42, was taken into custody on February 24 after officers stopped his vehicle near Exit 43 on the New York State Thruway in the Town of Manchester. Authorities say the arrest followed a lengthy investigation led by the Ontario County Sheriff's Office Special Investigations Division.
Johnson has been charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the first degree, a Class A-I felony, and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a Class B felony.
Following his arrest, law enforcement executed multiple search warrants overnight into February 25, leading to the seizure of a substantial quantity of illegal drugs and cash. Authorities report confiscating:
1.5 kilograms of cocaine
9,108 tabs of LSD
6 pounds of marijuana
6.7 pounds of suspected psilocybin mushrooms
1.6 kilograms of ketamine
27.9 ounces of MDMA
92 Ecstasy pills
$6,879 in cash
Johnson was arraigned in Ontario County CAP Court on February 25 and is being held in the Ontario County Jail without bail, pending further court proceedings. Officials say the investigation is ongoing and that additional arrests are possible.
The Ontario County Sheriff's Office worked with multiple agencies on the case, including the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, Seneca County Sheriff's Office, Canandaigua Police Department, Geneva Police Department, the Ontario County District Attorney’s Office, and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
