Authorities Remove Over 50 Animals in CNY Neglect Investigation
Among the animals were 30 horses, a pig, seven sheep, four goats, four chickens, seven dogs, and three cats.
New York State Police executed a search warrant at a property on Mudge King Road in the Town of Norwich on the evening of January 22 as part of an ongoing investigation into potential animal neglect.
According to officials, more than four dozen animals were found in need of immediate medical attention and were removed from the property. Among them were 30 horses, a pig, seven sheep, four goats, four chickens, seven dogs, and three cats. The animals were transported to various rescue organizations for care. Authorities also reported discovering multiple deceased animals on the property.
The landowners are currently cooperating with law enforcement as the investigation continues.
New York State Police received assistance from several agencies, including the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, Chenango County Office of Emergency Management, the Susquehanna SPCA, Chenango County SPCA, the National Humane Society, and numerous animal welfare professionals.
Officials have not disclosed whether any charges will be filed as the investigation remains ongoing.
