Authorities have arrested an Auburn man for allegedly violating a court-issued order of protection in Cayuga County.
According to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, deputies took Andrew C. Leader, 44, into custody on February 19 at approximately 6:45 p.m. He is facing charges of Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree, a misdemeanor, and Aggravated Family Offense, a felony.
Deputies, along with a New York State Trooper, responded to a residence in the Town of Owasco around 6:13 p.m. after receiving a welfare check request. The call was prompted by a report that a woman had received a concerning text message from a friend at the location, asking for help.
Upon arrival, deputies found Leader in the presence of an individual who was protected by a full stay-away order issued by Auburn City Court. The sheriff’s office confirmed that the protected individual was unharmed.
Following the investigation, Leader was taken into custody. Due to previous domestic violence-related convictions, the charges against him included the felony-level Aggravated Family Offense.
Leader was arraigned at the Centralized Arraignment Court and was remanded to the Cayuga County Jail without bail due to his prior felony convictions.
