Another Indictment Unsealed in Marcy Correctional Facility Homicide of Robert Brooks
Nicholas J. Kieffer, 33, of Whitesboro, NY, has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses including murder and gang assault.
A grand jury has returned yet another indictment in the homicide investigation of Robert Brooks, a 43-year-old incarcerated individual at Marcy Correctional Facility, who was killed on December 9, 2024 at the hands of New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (NYSDOCCS) officers. The indictment was unsealed by Oneida County Court Judge Robert Bauer, following an investigation led by New York State Police.
As a result of the investigation, Nicholas J. Kieffer, 33, of Whitesboro, NY, has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including:
Murder in the Second Degree
Manslaughter in the First Degree
Gang Assault in the Second Degree
Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the First Degree
New York State Police Superintendent Steven G. James described the arrest as a significant step in ensuring accountability, acknowledging the work of investigators in the case.
The New York State Police credited the Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office and the Medical Examiner’s Office for their assistance in the investigation.
The case remains an active and ongoing prosecution.
