A 69-year-old man from Albion has been arrested and charged in connection with the theft of a wallet in a Geneseo grocery store, according to the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.
On March 1, sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a stolen wallet at a local grocery store. Authorities say the wallet was taken while the victim was shopping, and an employee later found it in the store’s parking lot. The victim reported that $400 in cash was missing.
Following an investigation, deputies arrested Dannie Sims on March 7, charging him with felony grand larceny in the fourth degree and petit larceny.
Sims was taken to the Livingston County Jail for processing and arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (CAP) court. The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office requested he be held without bail, citing 12 prior felony convictions. A judge subsequently remanded him to the custody of the sheriff’s office without bail pending further court proceedings.
The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office represented Sims at his court appearance, while the District Attorney’s Office represented the prosecution.
The sheriff’s office stated that the investigation was conducted by members of its Patrol Division and Criminal Investigations Division.
