Albany County Man Sentenced to More Than 12 Years for Child Exploitation Crimes
A 47-year-old Albany County man has been sentenced to more than 12 years in federal prison for distributing and possessing child sexual abuse material, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of New York.
Joshua White was sentenced to 151 months in prison, followed by 20 years of supervised release. As part of his plea agreement, White admitted to sharing sexually explicit images of a minor known to him via text message. Authorities said that when he was interviewed by police in July 2023, investigators found additional illegal material on his phone that had been obtained from the internet and social media messaging apps.
In addition to his prison sentence, White was ordered to forfeit the property used in committing the crimes and pay $5,000 in restitution to the identified victim. Upon his release, he will be required to register as a sex offender.
The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and the New York State Police. Prosecutors pursued the case as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating child exploitation.
