60-Year-Old Rochester Man Arrested After Finger Lakes Premium Outlets Sunglass Hut Theft
A Rochester man has been arrested in connection with a theft at the Sunglass Hut located at the Finger Lakes Premium Outlets, authorities announced this week.
According to New York State Police, troopers responded to the store on August 31, 2024, following a report of larceny. Employees provided security footage showing three suspects stealing multiple pairs of sunglasses.
Following an investigation, police identified one of the suspects as Dexter Lee McKenzie, 60, of Rochester. During an initial interview on November 6, 2024, police say McKenzie provided a false name and date of birth despite being warned about potential charges for misidentification. Further investigation confirmed his identity.
On January 28, 2025, investigators located and arrested McKenzie in Rochester. He has been charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony, and false personation, a misdemeanor.
McKenzie was processed at the State Police barracks in Rochester and released on an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Junius Court on February 20, 2025, at 6:00 p.m.
Authorities have not released information regarding the other two suspects seen in the surveillance footage. The investigation remains ongoing.
