A sewage discharge occurred in Walworth early Sunday morning due to a force main rupture, according to a notification issued by the the Town of Walworth Sewer District #1 Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Officials reported that approximately 3,000 gallons of untreated sewage were released over a six-hour period into Red Creek beginning at 2:00 a.m. on March 9, 2025.The discharge took place at 3560 Main Street.
In response, crews took immediate action to contain the spill, using vacuum equipment to remove wastewater from the affected area. There were no reports of direct public impact, and officials have not indicated any immediate health or environmental risks.
The rupture’s cause has been attributed to a pipe break in the force main system.
